2012-05-27 Foulweather Nature PreserveAll you need sometimes is a good narrative. Curiosity + Nature Preserve + discovering nature brings about this picture of an innocent child holding up some shore crabs he just picked up. Shot: f/4.0 1/400th ISO 200 with my 24-105mm Canon.

2012-05-20 Abandoned SeattleI was out walking around downtown Seattle on a typical rainy Seattle day. From Pike Place market I noticed that Hwy 99 / Viaduct was closed. I eventually wandered my way down to the Hwy on-ramp and onto the bridge itself. This eerie shot was taken with aperture priority, set with f/8.0.

2012-05-13 Extension Tubes!
Fun with extension tubes! I bought this set of three Kenko extension tubes. When added on to my 50mm f1.4 prime lens, it lets me get really close to my subject. I think I was about 10-12cm away. Here you can see the crisp details with a magnification factor like that of a macro lens. Yum!

2012-05-06 Super moonTime check, 9:55PM. Just in time for the super moon rise over the Seattle Skyline on 5/6/2012. Here I’m armed with my 70-200mm f/2.8. I snapped this shit at 2.5s at f /8.0 on ISO 400. I wish I had gone a little bit lower on the ISO to reduce the noise, however it was a bit windy at Kerry Park.

2012-02-19 Smith TowerIt’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. Here’s a shot of a baby lion guarding the Imperial chair up in the Chinese room at Smith Tower. Okay, I have to admit, I went a little Bokeh crazy here, Overall, I felt the saturation and overexposure created a nice contrast on the subject.

2012-01-21 Tet in SeattleI love bringing in the new lunar new year with a BANG! On Saturday I was lucky enough to catch the opening presentation for Tet in Seattle. It began with a Lion dance and ended with some ear ringing firecrackers. Happy Year of the Dragon everyone!

I just got a new macro lens, a nifty 100mm f2.8 which gets in at a 1:1 magnification. It lets me get close and personal into the subject.

2011-12-02 Garden D’lightsThe Bellevue Botanical Garden transforms, taking almost 10,000 volunteer hours to create this magical light spectacle. Here’s a snapshot of a nearby mural. I think it took well over 10 weeks in total to prepare.

Rawr! A monster in the dark on this rainy Seattle evening. A troll is lurking under the bridge.

Here’s a colour picked shot I took a while back in around March in South Beach Miami, FL. The blue sky + water + chairs made for a very blue day.

I just happened upon this beautiful sunset while driving around Seattle doing errands. I quickly grabbed my camera and headed over to the closest unobstructed point and snapped a few shots.

2011-10-15 Whiskey Rocks
Whiskey + Whiskey rocks… begs the question, what would Don Draper do, especially in the face of a seemingly ever so difficult problem, when Peggy and Pete Campbell can’t seem to solve the problem, or you just so happened to have solved a problem.

Light and shadow are forever intertwined. Here’s a shot where I deliberately used backlight to cause a striking contrast with the foreground subject. Enough geeky stuff, what better way to spend a sunny Sunday evening than to chase sunsets by the beach. I was lucky enough to catch a gorgeous sunset.

2011-09-16 Lake Wenatchee
Nothing says autumn in the Northwest better than temperate weather, rolling clouds and mountainous terrain. I cheated again, here I used a pseudo-HDR technique to create a dramatized cloud effect while maintaining lots of detail. As this photo was shot in RAW (CR2), I adjusted the EV in Lightroom and used Nik’s software to achieve the effect. Enjoy!
